[chirp_users] How do I contribute? Want to add FX-9A
Hello CHIRP Developers!
Love the software! I am a Python programmer and a Ham. My first HF rig -- FX-9A -- is on its way. I would like to do my bit and contribute to the CHIRP software. How do I go about adding this new rig to the software?
Thanks! Angad KK6ISH
We are happy to have the help! Some links to get started:

Questions on development are especially welcome over in the chirp_devel mailing list. This list is generally meant for users and not development. I would also suggest that you may have an easier time starting out by adding a feature to an existing radio, or adding a variant. Brand new module development is a little daunting but not out of the question.

Hi Angad,
I don't see anything that says this rig is computer programmable. But assuming that it is, you will want to join the chirp_devel mailing list and get a copy of the OEM software so you can reverse engineer how it functions.
There are also some pages on the CHIRP website with tips on how to get started as a developer.

*Brian,* Thanks for the links! The only radio I have is the Baofeng UV-5R. I'll try playing around with the code for that. I will direct questions to the dev list.
*Jim, * You're right. I'm not sure either. I haven't yet had a chance to play with it. There is a COM interface on it and is said to follow the interface from TS-590 (at least for rig control). That probably doesn't say much about being able to program the memory channels. But we'll see how it goes!
Thanks! Angad KK6ISH
