OK Chip, that's good to know in case I have to revert back to the snap-installed version. Fighting now to try to get the python-wheels setup working..

It seems I am stuck at version 3.17 despite running:
sudo snap refresh chirp-snap
I always receive the reply:
snap "chirp-snap" has no updates available
What am I doing wrong?

As far as I know, the CHIRP project has never provided an official snap-build. However, back when I was running the snap build of the legacy CHIRP on Linux Mint 21, I added "--channel=latest/edge" to my command to make sure I received the latest snap build available. YMMV
sudo snap refresh chirp-snap --channel=latest/edge
