Folks, There was an issue with my procedure. I was neglecting to hit the set button when trying to Download from Radio.
FT-90R upload and download works great.

I first tried this on my Mac which works for my other Wooxun.
I launch Chirp and select Download from Radio. After I selected my model radio and port /dev/cu.usbserial-A105ZGRL
I see the message about Putting into clone mode. I did this and it says CLONE on the display,
I then plug in and continue.
