Use Device Manager to see what comm port you are connected to. Unplug and plug back in your cable, the one you are using will disappear and come back. Next, check the driver and cable model name. If it shows you are using a Prolific cable, roll back your driver to 3.2.0.0.
When you are going thru the clone process, always read the radio first, modify your file, then write to the radio. When the instructions says to push the Set button, it is the fastest push you can do and release, don’t press too long.

Windows 10 computer
I am trying to clone the Yaesu FT8900R (this is the first time)
I use CHIRP and I follow the CHIRP instructions (same as in Yaesu manual)
I turn on the radio, go to F6 "clone start", then push "set"
Nothing happens...after a few seconds, I get error message stating it could not find the item location (com port). Tried several times on all four active ports.
Checked "device manager" and the four ports are active and well
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated
