[chirp_users] Baofeng UV-5RA cloning problem
When I try to clone my Baofeng UV-5RA, it starts the download and I receive a "radio Refused to send block 0x0140" error. I am running Chirp on windows 8.1, and Chrip is 20141231. firmware is BFB297. Any ideas or suggestions?

The first thing that I would recommend, if you haven't already, is that you turn off the Window 8's SmartScreen feature.

The second thing would be that if the programming cable has a Prolific type chip in it (look in Device Manager), then downgrade the automatically installed driver to v3.2.0.0.

I have all ready have smart screen off and I have the Prolific version 3.2.0.0 driver installed and working.

I assume you can read from the radio, and have updated the read file then tried to write it back.

Yes. You didn't say so needed to confirm this. They both can cause similar transmission errors.
I was hoping that was all it was because, unfortunately, this sounds very similar to the problem Kevin is having in issue #2139
http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/2139
I don't know if this is a bad batch of Baofeng radios if if they have change the timing or protocol in their latest radios.
As far as I know, Kevin sent his radios back.
