[chirp_users] Elecraft Support
I am almost afraid to ask but looking through the previous years mailing lists... I didn't see any discussion of this. Also looking at the roadmap did not see any mention either. So does Chirp have any plans on supporting the Elecraft products in the future ? Such as K3, KX3 or K2 ?

It looks like someone has requested the K3, but could not provide a loaner to a developer. I don't see any request for the K2 or KX3.

I certainly agree about the shipping - I'd be willing to do some downloads; and, I'm "almost" local to Portland (Prosser, WA - about 3 hours east). I occasionally get to Portland on business (next trip scheduled for 5/14) and could "loan" my radio for a day, if that would help.

Jon, These kind folks at CHIRP need a radio for some period of time to download the files, study them, make changes to their program and then test the results. Since they do this all by donation there is no way that they can afford to purchase one of everything and then all of the revisions of each radio. As long as radios are programmed in a non defined standard all they can do is "reverse engineer" a typical unit. If you and enough others would like the Elecraft line included somebody will have to step up and ship a unit on a short vacation. 73, JL

Is it possible for a k3 owner to send whatever files are needed, test the files by sending back and forth?
I am just not inclined to mail my $4k radio around.
Thanks, Jack W4GRJ

Dan and I have found that the time commitment required to do remote developement is significantly greater than with the radio right in front of us, and we don't have this amount of time available to devote to CHIRP. In my case, remote development has been completely unsuccessful due to the radio owner being unable to troubleshoot my not-quite-working code. Remote development just isn't feasible.

You could always write support for it yourself. We would love to have another CHIRP developer :-)

Hi
I used to have a K2 and it used a lot of the Kenwood radio control commands, by that I mean, then we used kenwood ???? and the rig time. Sorry I can't remember what ???? was. It may be that if someone donated the use of Elcraft it wouldn't take long to get Chirp to work with them.
