Greetings,
A new daily build of CHIRP is available. This includes changes made directly to the tree yesterday, and may include additional features, bug fixes, and/or bugs. If you are interested in trying it, grab it from the following location:
http://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/daily-20170217
A list of the changes included in this build (since the last daily) follows:
Changes for Build #464 [Dan Smith dsmith@danplanet.com] Avoid confusing BTECH UV-5X3 users with UV-5X driver
Reportedly people that are buying the (new) BTECH UV-5X3 radio are confused and choosing the Baofeng UV-5X model from the menus, which won't work. Many are just outright returning the radio as a result, assuming it's broken.
Since there are a million UV-5R variants and this is likely to get worse, this patch adds a blacklist of similar magic strings from radios that may be confused easily. If we fail to probe the radio that was selected, we can probe for the blacklist magics, and if any reply, raise a specific error to the user indicating that they chose the wrong model.

Hi,,
1. I have a few baofengs now. wondering if they will eventually get their own names in the model dropdown, rather than the shareing, ie gt-3tp iii as the BF-F8HP .
2. i have a dm-5r coming next week, im guessing it will just use the same as uv-5r. not sure have the extra settings will feature yet tho.
3. oh, 1 more thing, i have a freq to store in either bf, 133.600mhz. but chirp reports ...bugger, just going to look....ahh, Error setting memory: Frequency 133.600000 is out of supported range. altho i recieve on radio ok. i tried manually putting into the radio mem ok. read the radio into chirp ok, i see the freq ok, but when i try to change to skip, i get the same msg of course. (uv5r>3tpiii)
4. have a good weekend :-)

Really? I guess people need extra help when selecting their model of radio. Sad, they toss a perfectly good radio, due to their not paying attention to detail.
