Is there a way to change the LOC number/order in an downloaded document (Yaesu VX-3R) via Chirp ?
My Frequencies are in a random order. I would like them in ascending order.
John
Export it into a spreadsheet, sort it, import it back into Chirp.

Thanks ! I'm using excel & I'm good until I go to Save the Document, in excel. I can't seem to get the correct form & errors during opening in Chirp that leave information out.

Excel sometimes adds extra empty fields. Use Libre Office Calc.

Yeah, I stay away from Excel when processing radio files, it seems to be more of a virus than a virtue.

Download from radio twice into two tabs. Click on Frequency heading in the #1 tab to put the memories in frequency order. Copy-and-paste the memory rows from the #1 tab to the #2 tab. Done.

I just received the above radio and am having a bit of trouble with the way CHIRP (or the radio) is handling the channels after programming. The radio seems to work fine, the programming cable connected right away without any driver drama, and the factory software even loaded up and will upload and download to and from the radio, but it's otherwise mostly useless**. Chirp seems to work fine as well as far as reading and writing to the radio, and I was able to import UV-5R files without any problem. The problem I'm having is the order of the channels is scrambled when uploading or downloading. I THINK it has something to do with the separate A and B memory banks. I made sure I selected the "A" bank on the Settings screen, but it still seems to scramble the channels. Earlier today I manually entered twelve local repeaters and numbered them channels 1 through 12, all in Bank A, but when I downloaded the radio to CHIRP, the #1 channel was now #4. I also deliberately didn't give any of the manually entered channels names, but there were channels with names scattered in with the other unnamed channels, apparently from Bank B.
If anyone has any ideas I'd like to hear them.
** The factory software has two separate screens for Bank A and B, and seems to work fine moving files to and from the radio. The problem is I can't see any way to enter repeater offset frequencies or -/+ values; apparently it's necessary to calculate and enter offsets manually.
thanks Dave
Don't import files from a different radio. They might import but might be the wrong format. I am thinking about the sorting thing could be as simple as 01 instead 1 or 001. With radio software like Chirp and especially Chirp, because it works with so many different radios, the formats of everything needs to be EXACT!!
Reset your radio to factory defaults. I always then program one frequency manually so that when I download from the radio to Chirp I can see the format the data is in.
Download the now defaulted radio to a file. Edit this file to upload back to the radio.

If you're going to import from another radio, import the .img file and not a .csv file.

Thanks for the replies. It's not an importing issue since I'm working with a file directly input to the radio via the microphone keypad and the radio's menus.
Today I started with the radio with only the channels I programmed into it by hand, about a dozen repeaters into Bank A, and five Simplex channels into Bank B. I then downloaded them into the factory software and they looked fine (the factory software gives you two separate windows, one for each Bank). I then downloaded the radio to CHIRP and everything was all scrambled.
