[chirp_users] uv5r plus corrupt img file
Hello, I'm new to programming radios so please bear with me. I have downloaded some frequencies from my radio through Chirp to a folder on my computer. When I try to open the folder I get a message saying that the "disk image file is corrupted" . I have downloaded a uv5r image file from the internet and I get the same message.
Could anyone advise me as to a fix.
Many thanks Adrian.
Hi Adrian, I am not familiar with a UV5R + Baofeng. Did you select the plus radio in the download list of radios? Hello Glen, Thanks for your reply. There isn't an option for the plus model apparently the listed uv5r setting is correct.

When in doubt, check the Supported Radio Models list on the CHIRP home page. It shows...
Baofeng/Pofung * UV-5R+ (use BF-F8HP)
The rule of thumb for UV-5R like models is...
2 bands, 2 TX power levels: Baofeng / UV-5R 2 bands, 3 TX power levels: Baofeng / BF-F8HP 3 bands, 2 TX power levels: Radioddity / UV-5RX3

Hello Jim,
Thanks very much for the info. i'll give that a try, I think I need to have a good read through the documentation and have a few trial and error sessions.

You typically can't hurt anything by reading/downloading from your radio. Be sure to make an unedited copy of your first successful download and save it to a safe place to be kept as a backup. If things get to where you are lost, you can always upload it back to your radio and start over.
For a much better User Manual, visit the miklor.com website and choose the BF-F8HP radio. Scroll down and there will be a link for the manual.

Thanks Jim I'll download the manual as you suggest and have a good read. Thanks again for the information much appreciated.

There is nothing to "fix". The Windows default for the '.img' extension is a "disk image file". So when you double-click it, Windows is trying to mount it as a disk file system. Since it is not a disk image, it appears corrupt to Windows (and it should).
All you need to do is to launch CHIRP and then use File -> Open (Ctrl + O shortcut) to locate and load your previously saved file.
Jim KC9HI
Good call Jim, I didn't catch that Adrian was trying to open it outside of Chirp.
