[chirp_users] error reading from radio
Hi, I've tried this with Chirp Next and with an older chirp as well, with a Btech UV3r. The error says: graphic 213 graphic 798 An error has occurredgraphic 289 Error reading data from radio: not the amount of data we want. OK Thanks for any ideas.

Baofeng Tech (aka BTECH) has never had a UV-3R model in their lineup. So can you confirm which model it actually is?

My mistake, it is the model UV3X. Also, I was working on several Baofengs, one after the other, and I had the wrong radio plugged in. Once I put in the right radio, it worked as expected. Funny though that it did not tell me it was the wrong model, like it has when I used the wrong option when downloading.
Thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Unroe" rock.unroe@gmail.com To: "Discussion of CHIRP" chirp_users@intrepid.danplanet.com Sent: Wednesday, January 18, 2023 3:58 PM Subject: Re: [chirp_users] error reading from radio

There's probably no way for the software to tell what sort of radio is plugged in, so it has to take what the user tells it at face value.
I had the same thing with the Alinco DJ-G7T… at first it told me there was a comms time-out which suggested the adaptor (which was new) did not work. Then I had a look at the various patches floating around and started hacking and determined the code was just sending the wrong codes to the radio and it therefore was ignoring me.
