I am new to Ubuntu, CHIRP, and last fall got ticket to tech and general at first sitting. I have the Wouxun that is listed as supported. I am not sure how to run CHIRP. When I found the file that appears to open it all I get is a blank screen. I must be doing something wrong or missing a few steps. When Vista corrupted laptop I learned Ubuntu and recently upgraded it to Precise.

Running unity (default install on Ubuntu)?

If so, go to the menu bar and then Radio->Download from radio.

Unity makes this obscure for *everyone* unfortunately, so don't feel bad :)
