[chirp_users] Chirp not populating
Greetings I have an issue with Chirp not populating the repeaters list. I open Chirp (blank) click on Radio, select Query data source, click on Repeater Book Query, I input pertinent date click OK. When the Repeater Book page populates it shows all 0's for frequencies. In other words no repeater data shows. I know that the data I'm trying to acquire is valid as I have a friend try the same parameters and his populates. I'm using W7 home premium Toshiba Satellite T1150. Can someone help? Thanks Gus
You need to read from your radio first so you have a channel and settings template even if it's a brand new radio. Then query from database and it should import the repeater list.

I'm sorry Milton, but you do not have to download from your radio first to do this.

I open Chirp (blank) click on Radio, select Query data source, click on Repeater Book Query, I input pertinent date click OK.
This should work. Please file an issue for this, include all the values you're putting in the query box, your chirp version, and the debug.log from after your query fails. Details on how to do that are here:

Sorry It's this file sent in this email an ASC file. Tnx Gus

CHIRP is compatible with over 70 models and needs to know which model you have.
A 'Download from Radio' tells CHIRP what model you have and created the initial template.

Hope this helps.

Gus,
I seem to remember someone else having an issue similar to this and had to delete their "chirp.config" file. Here is how you do it.
1. Go to Start->Run and type "%APPDATA%\CHIRP". 2. Click on the CHIRP folder that is listed. 3. Delete or rename the "chirp.config" file.
Now launch CHIRP and see if the problem is solved.

Gus, the ASC file in attach to Dan's emails is just an electronic signature, you can ignore it.
Please try renaming the chirp.config file as instructed and let us know.

Hi My Baofeng UV5R has data in it as a friend sent me his file I I was able to download to the radio. I then tried to download date for El Paso and Albuquerque and a couple of other places. The program would create another tab but it would not show frequencies (all 0000) After Dan's message I connected the radio uploaded to the program, closed it down, reopened. Clicked repeater book set in parameters, no data. I then tried the deleting the config file. Same results. If you need any other data please let me know. TNX Gus

I said in my first email what we need from you in order to help. It seems to work fine for several people, but we don't know what you're searching for and need your debug log in order to help track down the issue.
However, is there any possibility that you're not noticing that after the query, a new tab opens up next to the first one called "RepeaterBook"? Try starting chirp, and doing the Radio->Query part without going to File->New first. That should make it more obvious.
--Dan
Hi That is how I have tried it. Opening Chirp (blank) then Radio, Query Data Source, Repeater Book , a little window appears (query) I input the data click OK. Then it populates with the headers however the freqs are all 000's I have tried it the other way also where I click open the I find the Baofeng file, open it and the file that I have populates the data that I had downloaded to the radio all's good. I then have tried the Query it does create a tab however it is blank on the freqs. As far as the debug file I'll need some help to it and send it. Thanks for all your help. Gus

As far as the debug file I'll need some help to it and send it.
http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/How_to_report_issues
Please do not send it to the list here, file an issue on the website so that we can track the issue and the fix. The above instructions tell you how to do that.
Please be sure to include what location you're searching for. It's entirely possible that it's just something related to the data for the region you're requesting.

Hi Will follow instructions, however I did try 3 different regions for download of frequencies.. Thanks for all the help. Gus
