When plugging a headset into my UV-82 when I press the PTT button the radio changes to the B/UHF frequencies. Is there a way to prevent this. Thanks. When using a single push to talk button type hand mic or headset, the radio goes to the bottom frequency automatic. This is factory set and can not be changed.

The UV-82 uses a different headset from the standard Kenwood one because of its dual PTT buttons. Are you using the proper dual-PTT type designed for the UV-82 series? A standard Kenwood-type one for Kenwood radios, the Baofeng UV-5R series, Wouxuns, etc. does not work quite right in these radios.
