[chirp_users] Chirp / IC2820
I had a little time this morning to play with Chirp and the 2820. I made sure the GPS TX was turned off. When I try and read the 2820 the cloning window opens and the program hangs. It reads OK with CS2820.
I don't have a fresh log file handy - need a new battery for my laptop so I can go out to the truck and try and read again. Using 1.9B12

Hi Steve,

I'll be glad to take a look at a debug log when you have one :)
Thanks!
Thanks Dan,
Has anyone else had success with v 1.9b12 and a 2820, downloading from the radio? A yes or no would sure help me.

With confidence that both Jeff and Dan have had success, I tried something a little different this morning. Instead of using the rs232 data port on the front of the radio (along with the Prolific usb/com adaptor), I tried the ttl interface thru the loudspeaker jack (again with the Prolific adaptor and this time an Icom cloning cable) - worked first time. Are both ports on the radio supposed to work with Chirp ?
Thanks again, steve nu5d

Well, I have, of course :D
I'm not sure that the from data connector is used for programming. I've never been able to get it to work on min with either the Icom software or CHIRP.
Oh, BTW, HTML email sucks!

sri about the html - should be plain text now. I have used the data port for programming without any difficulty using cs2820. Same with the 91. CS 2820 works with either the spkr jack or data port. Chirp and my computer seem to not like the data port. Maybe something in my rs-232 settings ?
Thanks again - new battery for the laptop soon - DC-AC inverter in the mean time. steve nu5d

Nope, CHIRP (and any other non-DOS program) overrides all of those each time it opens the port. There's really not much point in speculating without the log. If the log says nothing, then we can start guessing :D
Thanks!

Yep, I clone my 2820 through the serial port, not the speaker jack :)
Dan, I used the Speaker Jack on the 2820, and the Funky top "THING" on the 92AD.. I have the Data Cable for the 2820, but use this for Input from the System here.. Guess I might have said the SPEAKER input thing Yesterday... Sorry.. GLAD you got it working !..

Worked Fine on my Mac Here. Was really surprised it worked on the 92AD also... No issues at all from me.. Jeff-N8NOE
