I have one of my UV-5R that receives well, so want to us it to scan NWS channels here to support my Skywarn activities.
I went to Chirp, on the Advanced Settings Tab and found "Scan Resume". My choices are:
TO CO SE
what do each of these do if I add them to my set up for the radio.
Thanks.

Visit the miklor.com radio information website. Choose the UV-5R model and scroll down to the Detailed Menu Reference and click the link. Choose the reference for your radio. Review menu 18.

I'm curious why you want to scan the NWS frequencies. Generally, there is only one that covers your geographical area and the others are out of range. Also, because they never stop transmitting, your radio will stop on it every scan cycle.

You can choose to have the radio resume scanning after a preset time, allowing you to sample it but not get stuck on it.
I like to program the weather channels (we have two in DFW) but set to skip (not be scanned).

I haven't seen anyone answer your question. TO is stop on search and resume after preset time. Usually 5 sec. CO will stop when detects carrier and resume when carrier drops and SE will stop on signal and remain there until acted upon by user.
Hope this helps you understand the 3 choices.
