[chirp_users] Ubuntu Launcher
Hi, I have chirp in Ubuntu-Mate, 18.04. I installed an older Chirp because it works with my screenreader. But the installed launcher, but if I run chirpw in a terminal, it runs. Or I can type in the terminal: /usr/bin/chirpw and it runs fine. I have been trying to make a desktop launcher to do this, so I don't have to launch it in a terminal. But the desktop launcher attempts I try do nothing, no errors, and no launching of chirp. Any ideas why I can launch it in a terminal, but not in a desktop launcher? Thanks.

hi Glenn… I am embarrassed to say, this is all over my head. Hopefully someday it will all make sense. Rich.

Linux is different from windows in some ways, but once you get an application launched, it is just like Windows. It has a desktop like windows, you will see tomorrow.

Oops, I thought I was communicating with Rich email to email. But, here is a cleaned up version of my post to this list, I was in a hurry when I wrote it earlier, and here's my clearer version of my launching Chirp problem.

I hope that one day chirp will work with orca again. I know a lot of that also has to do with the WX toolkit being accessible and presenting the information in a way that orca can speak it. I have faith that one day it will be, and we can all be running current software. Have a good night everyone and 73.
