[chirp_users] CHIRP & W32A .. problem solved
Thanks Dan ... I used a serial cable for my Alinco DJ-596 / DR-605 radios along with a USB to Serial adapter and it now works fine. Chirp is one powerful system. -- John 73's de K9RSQ

I am currently using Chirp Daily 20130129 on a WIN XP Home (SP3+) ASUS netbook with the USB (Prolific) cable that came with my BAOFENG UV-5RA. The UV-5RA works great with CHIRP.
The UV5R cable is vastly different from the one you need for your W32A. You need an Icom OPC-478 or equivalent to program it. Just because it fits in the speaker-mic jack doesn't mean it will work:)
