If anyone here has an ICOM 92AD and is using Chirp with no problems can you please send me the instructions on how you do it? I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work and it keeps telling me that it can not find the model of my radio. I have the GPS turned off. I have the radio at least five feet away from the computer. I turn the radio on first then start the software. I select ICOM and Port 5 and the bottom box says “Detect”. We I click okay. It does nothing until the box comes up and says that it can not find my model of radio.
Thank You

James- I don't know where to point you unfortunately. I just plugged in my 92AD and it read in fine (it does take a long time because it reads all of the memories, even blank ones). I do see that it while I can edit the memories "live", I can not import a CSV or CHIRP file from another radio. I assume this is not yet supported in CHIRP on the 92AD. I am using an iCOM branded cable and a cheap Prolific USB/Serial converter.

There was a bug a bit ago, so make sure you're running on current code, but it should work fine. I know Mike did some testing a week or so ago and pointed out a bug (which I fixed).
Dan,
This is the build that I am using. chirp-daily-03142012-installer
I am using the program cable that came with my ICOM software and a RS232 to USB converter (CSA LL204790) Type CM cable. Now a while back (not sure which two it was) but the program read the radio just fine. But since then I have yet to get the new builds to read the radio at all. I get an Error that it can not find the Model Number of the Radio. Well I was going to send you screen shots but guess what. This time when I hooked it all up and fired it up. It worked. So call me a Monkey's Uncle.... I guess I just was not holding my mouth right or getting the cables in right. Who knows. It works right now so that is all that matters. Sure is weird. I worked at that for a couple of hours today and it would not work. Now. It works.
Well For Now 73's and Thanks James KD0AJZ
