[chirp_users] kenwood/baofeng programming
Trying to attach a jpg that shows the kenwood tk-2170 on top and baofeng 82c on the bottom.
Does it look like I'm programming the baofeng correctly to match the kenwood?
thx, -jm
you do not use TSQL that tells the radio to use both the encode and the decode tones. The Kenwood is only using the Encode tone. On chirp change you mode to tone and remove the tonesql value. That should work.

Jim,
Not the same. The Kenwood has a TX CTCSS tone programmed but not an RX CTCSS tone. You are programming both a TX and RX CTCSS tone on the UV-82C.
To be the same you must change Tone Mode to Tone and put the CTCSS tone in the Tone column.
Jim
Thanks all. Does the attached look better? -jm

Jim,
That looks better.
Are you doing the math to come up with the offset and shift direction? If yes, here is a tip that might speed things up for you.
Since you are getting the TX frequency directly from the Kenwood software, you can enter that frequency directly into CHIRP. Just set Duplex = "split" and enter the TX frequency into the Offset column. The you can click the [Refresh] button and CHIRP will to the math and set the Duplex and Offset values for you.
Also you can set common setting for multiple memories at the same time. For example if you forgot so switch several memories to NFM, you can click, shift-click, ctrl-click as needed to highlight a few memory rows. Then click the [Properties] button. Then tick the box to the left of Mode and then set it to NFM and click OK. All highlighted memories will be switched at the same time.

One last question....I hope. Where the kenwood QT/DQT Dec & QT/DQT Enc are set to None in both columns, I just set the Chirp Tone Mode to (None), correct?
thx again, -jm

Yes... "(None)" would be the equivalent for that in CHIRP.
Jim
Correct.

No. You need the change the Chirp Tone Mode from TSQL to Tone. It will probably revert back to the default value of 88.5 in the ToneSql column which you can ignore.
