[chirp_users] uv5replus-vfo/mr disable?
trying to make it goof proof. is there any way to disable the vfo/mr button. have figured out how to disable menu--which helps. have 6 on hand, and programming as 2 channel radios.
thanks

It may simply not be supported in the firmware.
If you're looking for a channel only radio and UHF only is acceptable, the 480 / 666 / 777 / 888 series handhelds from Baofeng may be a lot better for your application. They're just 16 channel with a rotary knob. Simple, elegant, and quite functional.

Jim,
Menus are only disabled when the radio is in channel mode. Once the radio is switched VFO mode, all menus are available not matter if the Menu setting is enabled or disabled.
Only the latest Baofeng F-11 radios have the capability if disabling the VFO/MR button. Until recently, special Baofeng software was required to toggle this setting. CHIRP can enable/disable this setting now.
