[chirp_users] Icom ic-t70
Hi, I'm looking for help with my ic-t70.
For months I have been trying to get an image file into Chirp.
I have confirmed correct drivers, COM ports, and no faulty cables. All I ever get is "failed to communicate with radio, unexpected response from radio."
Also, I'm using Windows 10. My cables are from Valley Enterprises.
I also have a cable for my Yaesu 817-ND and this works flawlessly.
It seems I've eliminated all but a bad radio, or a programming issue. My radio is brand new and seems to function perfectly.
Does anyone have any history with this... something to help?
Thanks,

"Unexpected response" means it did receive something, but that something wasn't what Chirp identifies as an IC-T70. Your debug log might tell you more, but since you didn't provide it I'll just go hunting myself... http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/repository/entry/chirp/drivers/icf... It looks like that error comes up when your radio responds to the clone request with more than one frame of data. What's in that extra data? Who knows. You might find more in your debug log.

Adam, are you putting the radio into clone mode before doing this? You have to do silly things like that for Yaesu radios, but not for Icoms. Just turn it on, plug it in, start the download.

Tom, I have my debug file here:
The issue is "failed to communicate with radio, unexpected response from
radio." on my Icom ic-t-70.
Thanks,

Tom, I sent my Valley Enterprise cable back today and put in an order for the RT Systems cable.
I will update the thread when I get a chance to try it out. Thanks,

I finally got my ic-t70 image file to clone using an RT Systems cable. The Valley cable did not work. As Tom points out below, this worked for someone else as well.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

If your cable shows it to be a Prolific, roll your driver back to 3.2.0.0. The newer drivers will not work if the chip is a fake. Check in Device Manager.
