[chirp_users] Cannot download from Wouxun UV-3D
I recently purchased a Wouxun UV-3D plus the programming cable and installed Chirp on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.7.4. I also installed the Python runtime package mentioned in the wiki.
I needed to install a Prolific USB driver before /dev/cu.usbserial appeared as a port choice.
I have a couple of manual entries stored so I figured that the program would download them but when I click "OK" a window labeled "Clone" appears. After several seconds I get a window saying the radio is not responding.
Is there a step I missed?

A common problem with the Wouxun's is the programming cable is a very tight fit and doesn't get all the way inserted. Make sure you feel a "click" when plugging the cable into the radio.

I assume the radio is on when you attempt this, right? If so, then you should have it all correct.
Do you know that the cable works? Try using it on a Windows PC with the OEM software. If that works, then with CHIRP on the same box. If that works, then you have a driver issue on the Mac. There are a ton of counterfeit USB cables out there and while they correctly show up as a port, they don't pass data properly. Macs seem to be the most sensitive to these issues.
Also, make sure the cable is fully inserted into the radio. That one is easy to get partially-seated.
Thanks. After trying for a while, I finally got it to work on a Win 7 box with the OEM software. It appears that I had the wrong driver installed. I'll try again with CHIRP and then go back to the Mac.

When I installed the OEM software, it wanted to install a different driver than the one I had downloaded from Prolific. The newt driver also worked with CHIRP. I suspect that I also have the wrong OS X driver. Does anyone have a link to a working driver for OSX Lion (10.7)?
