So I have a theoretical question. If one was to attend a festival and wanted to be on security's frequency how would one achieve this using chirp and a Baofeng UV-5R. Theoretically. At Summerset.

You would have to know what frequency they are using. CHIRP couldn't help you either way unless you know the frequency but you can easily program it in the field when you're there. They are probably operating in the VHF 70cm band 440mhz. In VFO mode you can easily scan the band when you're there and it should find them when they are transmitting.

The UV-5(R) uses a different programming cable. It most likely manufactured with a counterfeit Prolific USB-to-Serial chip and the installed device driver (assuming you are using Windows) is in compatible with counterfeit chips (all Prolific device drivers since about 2008 are). This is the #1 cause of problems, anyway.

Mike, If you are using a zUSB port, select USB0, which is at the end of the list. Glenn ----- Original Message ----- From: mike Heightchew To: chirp_users@intrepid.danplanet.com Sent: Tuesday, August 08, 2017 4:42 PM Subject: Re: [chirp_users] chirp_users Digest, Vol 104, Issue 8
