Alternate Programmng Methods
I'm playing around with a TIDradioH3 which has both bluetooth programming and a dedicated usbc connection for programming. Curious if Chirp has usb to usb programming capability or bluetooth capability.

You can program them from an iPhone/Android with the right program, I installed it once and used it. I forget the name of the app. I found it more cumbersome than using something like Chirp. You have to create an account to have full functionality of the app, but I entered channels manually without an account. That particular app of course connects via bluetooth. You can also use the BT to clone one to another H3. Chirp uses the USB to program that radio and the Bluetooth programming is done with the odd master app. I don't like using the app unless I'm on vacation and don't have a USB cable and internet to use chirp. To update firmware on the Tidradio H3 and H8, you have to use the tidradio software. There are some 3rd party firmware out there but havnt tried any yet.
Thanks, Jeff Gallaway

Hi Dick, The Tidradio TD-H3 is programmable directly via a simple USB cable. The only difference here is that Virtual Serial Port emulation (VSP) is carried out within the radio itself, rather than within a programming cable. CHIRP sees the emulated serial port of the H3 just like any other serial device it is presented with. The H3 can also be programmed via the K type speakermic connector, in which case, VSP is emulated within the programming cable as is more typical of most radios. CHIRP does not yet support BT programming.

Thanks for all the replies, folks. No I have a better handle on the radio. Bought it to try alternate firmware options but thought I ought to learn the radio first. :) All of your responses helped me.
