I checked the radio support page (which I should have done before I complained) and it shows the 707 is only supported for 2m/440, which explains the errors.
Is there any particular reason for this? It's not a big deal for me since I only have a few public service channels programmed but it would be nice.

The reason for this, most likely, is that we simply believed only those frequencies were supported by the radio.
