[chirp_users] Baorfeng transmit block while on reverse frequency
I program a lot of Boafeng uv-5r radios and have found an issue. I have a few channels I'd like to talk on and others I do not. If the reverse frequency function is turned on when on a channel you can transmit on, it will allow you to transmit on any channel in the radio. Is there a way to stop this from happening? You cannot access the reverse frequency option unless on a channel you can transmit on.

If what you claim it true, it is a bug in the radio's firmware and there is nothing that CHIRP can to to get around it. But I have tried what you describe on 3 different radios (UV-5R, UV-82, UV-82HP) and after moving to a TX blocked channel after enabling "reverse" mode on a non-TX blocked channel, the TX blocked channel does not transmit.
Can you provide the "real" firmware version (using CHIRP) of a radio that behaves as you describe?
Jim
The firmware message 1 is HNR5RV01 Message 2 is 1FB297 If I go to a ham repeater and hit the star to reverse frequency it will allow me to change to any channel and transmit and the R stays at the top of the screen.

Unfortunately the HN5RV01... firmware has been the worst firmware release I have seen from Baofeng since the UV-5R was originally brought to market in late 2011/early 2012. I think I have a radio around here somewhere with that firmware version. I may give it a try. In any case, that is the way the hardware works and there is nothing CHIRP can do to overcome it.
Jim
I suspected that. Thanks for the help though. I appreciate it.

Hello
Have you set the Duplex to off try this you got nothing to lose I can’t TX even when I press the scan key ( star key ) for reverse repeater
Just a thought

Yes, I have the duplex set to off on almost all of the channels. If I go to one I can talk on, it will allow the R to be displayed. Then if I switch to a channel that duplex is set to off, it still will show the R and transmit.
