Yes,
Use the latest Daily build. Connect your cable Receive the data first then upload the changes. You do not have to push buttons to receive or transmit

Tom, CHIRP works fine with all UV-5Rs. The A, B, C, +, PLUS, etc only designate differences in case styles. The electronics inside is the same (except for differences between firmware versions). Explain how is it that CHIRP does not work for you? Jim KC9HI

I have two exactly the same UV5RA's. I bought them together on Amazon.com. Chirp will download from both radios just fine, but on one I get an error code "incompatible firmware version bfb299 bfb297" . I have checked the firmware on both units it is BFB297. Leo

I just read this bug was covered in Bug Report 463.
The bug report says it was resolved 4 hours ago.
There will probably be a New Daily Build tomorrow morning to resolve this.
Tomorrow will be a brighter day :- )

I just got this in, maybe the problem will be resolved by the new daily build. Should I completely remove chirp before installing the new build, or not? Leo

Leo, If you use the Windows "installer" version (chirp-daily-20130129-installer.exe for example) it does the uninstall/new install for you automagically. Ron

Yes i have two radios of that type, one works, the other only half works with Chirp. However the one that works works very well. You must check your firmware version 1st, but the Chirp build at the address I am going to provide here is for a wide range of firmware. You must really follow the instructions to the letter. Thanks for the replies. I will check the version. I have had great success with the UV-5R and UV-5R+. With this one, it could not do the read. Ill try it again. Ill also get the latest CHIRP.
