[chirp_users] New Daily Build
Greetings,
A new daily build of CHIRP is available. This includes changes made directly to the tree yesterday, and may include additional features, bug fixes, and/or bugs. If you are interested in trying it, grab it from the following location:
http://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/daily-12182011/
A list of the changes included in this build (since the last daily) follows:
changeset: 1242:5ddcc8859b2b tag: tip user: Dan Smith dsmith@danplanet.com date: Sat Dec 17 18:38:42 2011 -0800 files: chirp/directory.py description: Put the superclass of the TM-V7 subclasses in the directory instead of the template.
That fixed the problems I was having accessing the TM-V7 - thanks and happy holidays!
Great, glad to hear it!
I'll warn you that you might encounter more. The V7 driver doesn't get much play as far as I can tell, and I just wrote it to scratch my own itch at one point. One quirk I know of is that Kenwood, in their infinitesimal wisdom, didn't provide a way for the PC to determine what the VHF/UHF split was set to in the radio. CHIRP does not have a mechanism right now to allow you to set that, so it makes some assumptions.
Anyway, if you want to use it and bump into any issues, I'll be glad to try to fix them.
Thanks!
I know how that goes - so I guess I can be a guniea pig for this. I do know it isn't setting the PL for the channels, but I can try to take a look at that myself and see what I can do about that. Also, setting the name on the channels would be nice as well.
I've been looking for an excuse to really learn Python, so I guess this is as good as any.

Okay, I don't see anywhere in the code where I'm setting the name, so I probably thought that model couldn't do it. The tones are supposed to be set, so maybe it's just something minor.

Great! Feel free to join the development list and ask python or chirp questions there.
Thanks!
