[chirp_users] icom IC-80AD future support?
Greetings,
Looking around at the support new radio section of your website I see that the icom ic-80AD was added to the list back in Sept 2011. I was wondering if any progress was made to support the radio, or if there are plans to support the radio.
Any insight you could provide would be appreciated.

Yep, it's just a matter of getting my hands on the radio for a bit to make sure it gets detected properly. It's the same as the ID-880, so it's really just an identification issue. I've got a contact for one, I just need to schedule a time and get it done.
Hey,
I was able to get chirp to read my DJ596 and 296 for that matter but for the life of me, I can't get chirp to write any changes to the rig's memory. It will attempt the write but the completion bar just flashes. I've tried it with the rig in the CLONE mode and just simply attached. Any other tricks to try? Like I said, it reads the rig just fine. Won't write.

Hmm, nope. I've never laid hands on either of these radios and did all the development remotely. However, I know that the drivers get used quite a bit. Can you file an issue and attach a debug log? Can't promise anything, but I can look.
Hey Dan,
Has there been any movement on adding this radio? I just bought one and I'm coming up to speed on Dstar (I plan on trying out D-Rats too). Though loaning out the radio for weeks on end would be hard, I'd be more than willing to try out new versions of Chirp code, etc.

It should be there in the current builds... Have you tried and failed?
