[chirp_users] YEASU FT-991
Hi Dan,
Any chance that the Yaesu FT-991 will be added to CHIRP in the future?
Love CHIRP!! Thanks for all your work.

I'd also be interested, but I see it's pretty much at the bottom of a very long list of radios people want support for.

The list isn't ordered, but rather left for developers to pick and choose what they want. For me this means radios I use personally. Your best bet is to wait for a developer who owns a FT-991 to show up.

Well, I've got a FT-991 and I'm a developer, but not a Python developer. Maybe after I finish getting ready for my General test I'll have to turn my attention there.

Great! If you are familiar with object-oriented programming, you should be able to understand Chirp's code pretty easily. Yaesus also tend to be very similar, so you'll likely be able to reuse a lot of existing code. Post to chirp_devel when you're ready and we'll get you started.

Is there a similar effort under way to support the FTM-400DR/XDR? I'm considering buying one but want to be able to use chirp to program all of my radios.
