[chirp_users] Looking for N5R-213BFB297 image.
Hey All,
First of all, thanks so much for your wonderful radio community resources.
I'm new to all of this, but just screwed up and so I've started actually learning!
Using Chirp, I uploaded an image from one of my radios onto the same model UV-5RA radio with different firmware (oops). I now can only receive on that radio if holding the mon button. I think I need to upload an image downloaded from a radio with the same firmware and then import my local frequency list using my CSV export.
The problem is, I can't find a chirp image with the right firmware version. The radio lists it as "N5R-213BFB297". I see at http://kc9hi.dyndns.org/uv5r/programming/CHIRPrecovery/ there are both N5R-213 and BFB297 images separately.
When I try to upload the BFB297 image using the latest daily Chirp software (chirp-daily-20141210), I get this message:
"Upload finished, but the 'Other Settings' could not be sent because the firmware version of the image ( Ver BFB297 ) does not match that of the radio (N5R-213BFB297 )."
If I use the N5R-213 image, I get the following error:
--- Sending Magic: 000: 50 bb ff 20 12 07 25 00 P.....%.

Can I just modify the special block of the image? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Simon.
Go to miklor.com and follow the instructions. First you need an old snapshot version of CHIRP to restore your uv-5ra radio using the correct (or nearest) firmware img.
Then you need the Latest Daily Build to write memories so they work.
Follow the instructions, I figured it out on my third yry.

Hey All,
First of all, thanks so much for your wonderful radio community resources.
