HI DAN PLANET
COULD YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME IN BASIC TERMS HOW I CAN MAKE OLDER VERSIONS OF CHIRP INTO A NORMAL WINDOWS XP EXE-THE ZIP I DOWNLOADED WAS --PY FORMAT?????
I TRYED SOMETHING CALLED PYTHON TO OPEN IT OR WHAT EVER IS SOPOST TO HAPPEN. PYTHON IS COMMAND LINE . THIS IS TO ADVANCED .
HOW DO I MAKE THESE ARCHIVED FILES INTO A NORMAL WINDOWS EXE???????
I WOULD GREATLY APRECIATE BASIC INSTRUCKTIONS FROM ANYONE
OR DOES ANY ONE KNOW WERE I CAN DOWNLOAD OLD VERSIONS OF CHIP IN A NORMAL WINDOWS FORMAT???????

Old versions of Chirp can be downloaded here: http://chirp.danplanet.com/download/
But I don't know why you would want old versions, they have bugs. We don't release new versions for the hell of it, we do it to fix bugs and add support for new radios.

More importantly, I recall you from the UV-5R list asking this same question, so I think you'd best be served by downloading the latest version, as the support for the UV-5R is *vastly* better in the latest stable release. The version you want lacks significant features and doesn't support the latest versions of the firmware on the UV-5R.
All told, you'd likely be better off concentrating your energies working with this group to get the current stable (or even the latest daily) build working.
