[chirp_users] Aviation radio programming
Has anyone used CHIRP to program aviation radios? I recently obtained a Yaesu VXA-200 and would like to use CHIRP as I use it for my Wouxon radio. The Yaesu software is not readily available.
Thanks for all y'all do! Chirp is a fantastic program.

Why would the CHIRP developers add aviation radios, when they cover ham and Part 90 radios? In my area, we have close to 50-60 (?) air strips ranging from Portland Int'l (PDX) to little grass strips you can barely tell are airstrips. They all share maybe 12 freqs. There are no tones or repeater offsets to worry about, so all you need to do is program those in and have a convenient list of what airports use what, or just use vfo. Easy enough to do without software.

My Kenwood TH-7 receives everything from 60Hz hum to about 500MHz, FM, SSB, etc. I have all kinds of receive-only frequencies programmed in using Chirp. It works well.

Your Kenwood is a ham radio with wide receive capabilities. The Yaesu in question is dedicated airband. There are too many airband choices out there and too few users in the CHIRP group to make it worthwhile for the developers to support, I would think.
