[chirp_users] Chirp and UV50-X2
Hello all,
I have purchased a programming cable for the UV50-X2 and of course it does not work properly, what is the exact procedure to be able to use this cable in Chirp ?
I'm using the latest daily
Thanks a lot
If you are using Windows, check Device Manager. If it says your cable is a Prolific, roll your cable driver back to 3.2.0.0. Information can be found at www.miklor.com.

Thanks but it's a FTDI driver (not a prolific), it's the one sold by baofengtech which is supposed to be "legit".
I was aware of the driver issue for the handheld radios so I THINK my prolific driver is 3200 and locked not to update.
Thanks

The radio end of the cable is a tip-ring-ring-sleeve phone plug. Just in case you haven’t verified, make sure it seats very firmly in the data jack on the radio's front panel. I had a similar issue when the cable wasn’t fully seated. CHIRP couldn’t read the radio’s config.

Thanks I'll look into it, in fact the plug is on the back on the 50-X2 but maybe I didnt plug it all the way.

The plug jack for programming is the 3.5mm on the front. The one on back is for your speaker. Then you should just have to select the right comm' port from the drop down in CHIRP.

I'm not sure about the UV-50x2, but the UV-25x2 and UV-25x4 have the 3.5mm data jack and the 3.5mm speaker/mic jack right next to each other on the rear of the radio. It is common that the programming cable is plugged into the wrong jack.

Thanks, to be honest I didn't look at it, so I'll check this tomorrow and report.
Sounds like a possible winner.....
