How do you determine the version of firmware running in the radio?

Hi I used the chirp software on my radios and it works properly on the UV-5R with bios version 291 but with ver 293 it disables the transmit function. A fix can be found at http://www.miklor.com/uv5r/UV5R-Recovery.html. Regards John
