[chirp_users] New Daily Build
Greetings,
A new daily build of CHIRP is available. This includes changes made directly to the tree yesterday, and may include additional features, bug fixes, and/or bugs. If you are interested in trying it, grab it from the following location:
http://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/daily-20160229
A list of the changes included in this build (since the last daily) follows:
Changes for Build #386 [Richard Cochran ag6qr@sonic.net] [FT2900] Allow support of modded variant of FT-2900. Fix #3387 This adds a new registered radio class with appropriate IDBLOCK to support a modified variant of FT-2900/FT-1900 for upload/download.
Bug #3387
[Pavel Milanes (CO7WT) co7wt@frcuba.co.cu] [PATCH][FD-268] Fix a annonying print on the debug space, Fix #2169 This erase a "print" left accidentaly, it's harmless but it bugs me a lot in the developer process.
Hi,
When I try to install the daily builds via PPA, I get the following error:
E: /var/cache/apt/archives/chirp-daily_20160229~trusty~1_amd64.deb: trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/chirpw', which is also in package chirp 0.3.1-3
Running Ubuntu 14.04, fully upgraded.

Uninstall the very, very old 0.3.1 release. You want to be installing the latest daily build so make sure you are using the "snapshots" repository.
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:dansmith/chirp-snapshots sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install chirp-daily
Jim KC9HI
Thanks! That solved the problem--no more errors.

You can't have both chirp and chirp-daily installed at the same time. Run this command to remove the chirp package:
sudo apt-get remove chirp
Now you should be able to upgrade chirp-daily.
This is a bug in Chirp's Debian packaging script. The metadata should denote that chirp and chirp-daily conflict or that chirp-daily replaces chirp. Since this isn't specified, it must be managed by manually uninstalling one before installing the other.

Yeah, and this is my fault in the first place and for not fixing it before now. I just made the change so tomorrow's build should include a conflict with the "chirp" package which should fix the problem.

So the "leap day" chirp release will be short lived! Ah, the short lifecycle of a software release ;-)
73, hope all is well with you! Mike, N0SO
Hi Tim,
Sounds like you have both versions installed. I recommend uninstalling the 0.3.x version in favor of the daily-build version.
The Fedora 'daily build' rpm is set to conflict with the release version to avoid conflicts like that.

Uninstall your old chirp first all of the old ones that's what fixed me up On Feb 29, 2016 10:34 AM, "Tim Schutte" kc8hr@sbcglobal.net wrote:

Rebooting is completely unnecessary. With Ubuntu, the only install/uninstall that requires a reboot is a kernel upgrade, which is unrelated to chirp.
