[chirp_users] 20150814 reports as old, PPA trusty lists as latest
what's the skinny?
PS my 0814 release no longer connecting to UV5R radio via proper cable. Has something changed in Ubuntu trusty? My user is in the proper group My cable is known to be good. I'll try some reboots and testing on other machines.

I don't understand what you're asking. What reports what as old? Which PPA are you using?

Dan,
Right after you updated the download page, the next time CHIRP was launched, a message appeared that indicated there was a new CHIRP version available even though you were already running the latest version. It happened on all my CHIRP installations. But this was only a 1-time message. The next time CHIRP daily-20150814 was launched after that, there was no longer any "upgrade" message.

Ah, I see!
So previously we were not notifying users of the daily builds that new versions were available. With the recent move to drop the stable/stale build, I told the server to start doing so. That means that the clients all got a new-version notification since they never were before.
The thing that probably didn't happen correctly is matching the version reported by the client to the version the server knows is now available, so people on 20150814 got a notice for the same version.
So, I'll take a look at that and see if I can tighten it up.
Thanks!
