What next? By biggest mistake was purchasing a Baofeng uv-5r v+ after a previous disaster 2 years ago. Why won't I learn!

If you are using CHIRP, only use the daily build for Baofeng radios, NOT the stable release of CHIRP.
If you have used the stable CHIRP, don't worry, any problem can be fixed.
