[chirp_users] Chirp on Ubuntu 11.10
I just installed chirp on Ubuntu 11.10 When I run chirpw
I get a blank white window with the title Chirp.
I have python 2.7.2+ installed.
Any solution or suggestions ?
Thank you,
Thanks Dan ! That part worked.
Now when I try to download from my Wouxon KG-UVD1P I get the following.
Any suggestion on why this is happening ?
CHIRP 0.1.12 on Linux - Ubuntu 11.10 Clone thread started -- Exception: -- Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/chirpui/clone.py", line 224, in run self.__radio.sync_in() File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/chirp/wouxun.py", line 148, in sync_in self._mmap = wouxun_download(self) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/chirp/wouxun.py", line 127, in wouxun_download wouxun_identify(radio) File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/chirp/wouxun.py", line 63, in wouxun_identify raise Exception("I can't talk to this model") Exception: I can't talk to this model ------ Clone failed: I can't talk to this model Clone thread ended --- Exception Dialog: I can't talk to this model --- None ----------------------------

If you're running unity, mouse to the top of the screen where there is a title bar (File, Edit, View, etc). You might start with Radio->Download.

Dan - I just tried the latest development version. Same result. Regards, Peter Grace AI6PG

Hmm, that is strange. Can you try the latest development version (linked from the bottom of the download page) and see if it behaves any differently?
Thanks!

I'll try it, but I'm not thinking it might be the cable. I had similar issues in Windoze with other apps. I've ordered a new cable.

Okay, sorry this took a while. Can you apply the following patch and send me the console output? Go into the chirp directory and run:
patch -p1 < wouxun_id.patch
Thanks!

The new cable did the trip. I have chirp now working in Ubuntu 11.10
One question - How to I make the auto repeater offset work in 220? I turned it on in the menu and set the offset direction to negative. The transmit frequency still reads 0.000

Sweet!

I've only got automatic offsets in the program for 2m and 70cm. Point me to a source that details the band plan and I'll fix it!
