[chirp_users] Help with Sinorise SR-626U
Good morning,
Anybody got information how to program the Sinorise SR-626U radio?
I have sent e-mails to the manufacturer but no response.
Greetings,
Dennis, ZS4BS / ZS2B / 7P8DG
Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objectified, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.

I can't find anything for that model on fccid.io. Does it have an FCC ID label?

No, it has a bar code with the letters/figures SR626U2011010797
Then on the sticker it has SR-626U CMII ID: 2004FJ0077
When I do a search on the CMII ID I get https://fccid.io/CMII-ID-2004FJ0077

Well that's interesting...
CMII ID 2004FJ0077 Device: FM walkie-talkie Manufactured by Japan KENWOOD CORPORATION (Kenwood)
"A CMIIT ID is the product ID assigned by the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to identify wireless products in the Chinese market. The CMIIT assigns product identifiers to approved products which must be labeled with the given approval code. The *FM walkie-talkie*, manufactured by Japan KENWOOD CORPORATION (Kenwood), has an Authorization Number of *CMII ID 2004FJ0077* and was approved on 2004-01-17 (valid until 0000-00-00). "
So I wonder if the CMIIT will be willing to retroactively label some Bond Telecom Baofeng-branded radios that slipped past the FCC's purview on their way through Customs into my home country (U.S.) :@)
Anyway, thanks for that info! "Learn something new everyday."

With only around 100 employees, I wonder if they are basically a design agency. The pictures of inside their factory suggests that, whatever hardware they produce, might be hand assembled.

From the look of the pictures and the specs (5W, 16-channel, 400-470MHz coverage, etc.), I can't help but wonder if it's not some kind of Baofeng BF-888 or BF-666 clone (minus the LED).
It's not uncommon for small companies to have private label variants of the Baofeng, as you all know.

AFAIK neither of those Baofeng models include an LCD screen. So yeah, maybe this radio is just another version of one of these?
I have half a dozen Bond Telecom "Baofeng BF-888s Plus" (look just like a Retevis RT7). These only cost me about $12 (USD) each, so it's not a big loss if they get bricked/smashed/lost. And they program just fine using the "Baofeng BF-888" selection in CHIRP.
Maybe just give the Sinorise SR-626U a try using the "Baofeng BF-888" profile in CHIRP and see what happens? After first saving the current code plug of course. (If you can't save the current config then that will be a sign that you can't write a new one either.)

The SR-626 has no screen so I don't see how you could program it unless it has software with it. I assume you bought it and have no manual or software. I can't find a manual for it anywhere on the web.

Your BTech radios have FCC labels because BTech is a US company, selling products out of California.
The original poster, by virtue of his posted callsigns, was likely not American, and likely not buying radios from American distributors. There is no reason for radio products destined for most of the worlds countries to carry American certification labels.
About time most Americans remembered that they are not the centre of the world.

Wow. Welcome to Amateur Radio, eh Nigel?
Please do note that I only asked if the radio had an FCC label. I didn't state that I expect that it should.
I'm simply in the habit of looking things up on FCCID.io as the first step in sleuthing things out, as that's where most hardware-related information seems to be kept at this point in the hobby/industry. And that's no doing of my own, in spite of me being American and all. You can blame the FCC for that repository if you like.
Carry on...

P.S. Though I am indeed based "out of California", BaoFeng Tech is not:
https://baofengtech.com/contact
We are based in: Arlington, South Dakota, 57212 United States of America
BTW, BTech is a great company to work with and they have always gone the extra mile to work out any issues I've had with Chinese radio hardware. And as an ODM for Baofeng designs, they are doing their best to deal with all the licensing issues required by importers in the U.S. Also, they do not sell radios without FCC ID labels, if that's important to you (it is to me as a U.S. citizen and subject to the laws of that country).
IF you are going to spend any money on "Baofeng" radios I strongly recommend to purchase from BTech if possible, regardless of your residency or citizenship.

Carry on...

Seriously, was just asking about the radio itself, not Dennis. Cheers!

Understood about which direction you took in your sleuthing. But for radios that do carry an FCC ID label, FCCID.io (which is just a scraper of the FCC's actual pages) provides far more info than most manufacturer's sites. Typically includes internal photos, block diagrams, detailed testing results, owner manuals, FCC type acceptance and/or certification notices and/or denials, etc. But most here are likely already aware of this.
Anyway, I assume we are talking about this mfgr's page:
http://sz-sinorise.com/en/product-detail-63.html
... and yeah to me that looks like an original BF-888.

You are correct sir, there is no need for any other country to have an FCC-ID on their radios. In conjunction with that, any radio without an FCC-ID should not be sold in the USA. End of story.
As you stated below, we in the USA are not the center of the world. We need to remember this, and thank you for the gentle reminder. We have no business where we are not needed or wanted. I would much rather my tax dollars stayed at home to take care of our own homeless and the hungry, especially around Christmas. We need to pull out of NATO (where I once served 8 long years) and drop out of the UN, THEN - use all that cash we would save to take care of our own first.
I totally agree with you sir.
