[chirp_users] CHIRP files & memories sharing between different radios
I have a problem retrieving (re-opening) files saved in CHIRP format: "error: unable to open schema". Is there a bug or my config error?
I have got three radios I want to keep aligned in memories:
- IC2820E - ICE92D - TH-D72E
The only way I have is to save memories in CSV files, and separated memories for FM and DV channels. Is there another way to do this?

Hi Leo,
I see the "unable to open schema" message when the rpm binary install package fails to include the .xml files chirp needs to run. On a Linux system they should be in /usr/share/chirp/. Look in that folder to see if it contains a few .xml files.
Are you installing the Fedora Linux rpm version of chirp?
Mike, N0SO
No, I have the problem on a WinXP laptop and on an Ubuntu-box (no rpm install) but I don't see any xml on /usr/share/chirp dir.

I'll test the latest windows version when I get home tonight.
Are they in the same folder as the chirp executable?
Mike

It's hard for me to reproduce things on Windows, so I'll wait to see if Mike has any luck.
Not that it's an excuse, but the CSV driver gets a *lot* more use, testing, and fixes. The .chirp XML stuff didn't pan out as much as I'd hoped, so it's likely a bit flakier. Unless there is some reason (I can't think of one) to use the .chirp format, I would recommend using the CSV format.
Dan,
Probably not the fourm but how do I get CHIRP to run on my MacBook Pro? I have it installed, but don't know what port to select with my cable. I'm trying to access a wouxun KG-UV2D.
Thanks,
Dave

Actually, it is, but not in response to that thread (so I changed the subject).

Sorry, I now see I missed your question directly to be earlier. It depends on what kind of adapter you have. What are the options in the drop-down? If it's empty, that means either (a) you don't have the proper driver installed or (b) you do, but it's some adapter device name that CHIRP doesn't recognize. With more details, the Mac folks on this list can help you out.
I'm using the wouxun USB adapter, my options for Port are:
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-PDA-Sync
/dev/cu/Bluetooth-Modem
Neither works for me. If anyone is using a wouxun radio on a Mac with the CHIRP software, please clue me in on how I might be able to configure this to work.
Thanks,
Dave

My wife says this driver works - apparently the distribution suite of drivers doesn't recognize the pl-2303 chip.

Hi Leo,
I tried my IC92AD with version chirp-daily_12072011 on windows 7/32 bit - I was able to save and reload a file in .chirp format with no trouble. The XML files that usually cause that error for me ( if they are missing ) are all in the same folder as the chirp executable with the win32 distribution. There are three files: chirp.xsd, chirp_banks.xsd and chirp_memory.xsd. I'm wondering if you have a corrupted download.
I will try it with XP next on a virtual machine.
