[chirp_users] [CHIRP] #124: VX-8R upload displays in Japanese characters on radio screen
#124: VX-8R upload displays in Japanese characters on radio screen ----------------------------------+----------------------------------------- Reporter: jp.bernier@… | Type: Bug Status: new | Priority: Functionality Milestone: | Component: Import/Export Version: 0.1.10 | Keywords: Japanese Characters Platform: Windows | ----------------------------------+----------------------------------------- Uploaded CHIRP image to Yaesu VX-8R. Memory slots and banks previously filled manually (not with CHIRP) are fine (120 of them), and unaffected.
However, all memory slots filled with the CHIRP program (added about 80 or so new channels) display in Japanese characters (and some ASCII) on the Yaesu screen. Also, the upload put all newly added memory slots (on PC side) into one memory slot in the radio. I'm not sure how that is even possible, but it is.

Please attach a .img file and tell me which memories were added.
Also, which version are you using?

Hi, thanks for the quick reply!
I started w/ v.0.1.10 (I think that was the number?) and have since updated v0.1.11 but still am having the same issue.
The memories in slots 01-103 (Scotts Hill) were created manually on the radio (that was fun! Not so much) before I got the programming cable . They cloned down into CHIRP fine, and upload back into the radio fine as well. It's #'s 104 (Emgcy Portables) to the end at #209 (UU Housing-2) that cause the problems.
I've tried the standard stuff, rebooting, taking the cable on / off, reinstalling program / driver / etc. At least the problem seems to be consistent, so maybe / hopefully it's just some setting that I am not familiar with?
I'm attaching two files, one with the problem slots (Utah Radio Frequencies.img) and one with just the channels that were created in the radio (New memories deleted.img) which uploads beautifully so that you can compare them.
Best,
JP.

Sorry, but the files don't seem to upload through this interface?

Comment:
I believe this was fixed in 0.1.11, but can persist in images created from 0.1.10. I committed changeset:1096 to remedy that situation and consider this issue now closed. Please re-open if it continues to be a problem.
