Is someone working on this radio for the list that can be used? If not could I loan someone one of radio for a short period so they can work on it?

I didn't mean to start an uproar with my comment. I said I am only intending to use these for emergencies. I would like someone who does have a HAM license to check my work when I am done. At least the part that they can legally try, just to see that if and when such an emergency arises the radios will work as intended. Preferably someone in the San Antonio, Tx area. I appreciate what has been done here and don't mean to step on toes, or be argumentative. I am not as into this as some of you guys. I don't write code, make drivers for stuff, or talk on HAM radios. I am a prepper, and I just want the best radios I can get for the $ I spend and for them to work as well or better than those of the Zombies. Thanks, Leo

Being a prepper using radios out of license or out of band will be the least of your concerns should whatever calamite you are prepping for come to fruition. Generally radios with a part 90 certification can be used for either ham radio or business communications. Your license dictates which bands to use. But if poop hits the fan, all barred holds are off and you won't have the FCC breathing down your back. That's my opinion, I don't have to go into detail to prove an opinion and that is exactly what I would do in times of a local or global catastrophe.

Okay, the list is now fully moderated since folks can't drop the topic (or even keep it contained to a relevant thread). That annoys me because now the developers have to spend time approving each post, instead of writing code, and the general usability of the list goes down as the latency goes up.
Those of you that _can_ behave yourselves should feel free to thank the offenders privately on my behalf :)
