All,
Fedora Linux RPMs for the latest chirp-daily build are now available in the KK7DS Ham-Apps yum repository. To add the repository as a software source, please follow these instructions: http://www.d-rats.com/component/content/article/30-d-rats-yum-repository/
I know it says d-rats, the chirp files are in the same repository.
After setting up the repository, open the "Add/Remove Software" tool and go to "software sources" under the system menu. Make sure the "KK7DS Ham Apps Beta Software" line is checked (enabled).
For some reason, the Fedora package manager likes the beta versions better that the daily builds, so you may not see the daily release in the list the first time you update. If you don't see it, open a terminal window and enter: yum update chirp-daily_daily_04042012 Or: yum update chirp-daily_daily_040420121.fc16
That should install the latest daily build.
For those who don't wish to use the repository but still want the RPM (binary or source), please look here: http://ham.n0so.net/fileadmin/ham/apps/rpm/fedora/16/noarch/chirp-daily_0404...

Happy Testing,

Hi all,
[Dan Smith dsmith@danplanet.com] Add initial support for the Baofeng UV-5R
I just wanted to point out that support for the Baofeng UV-5R comes to you courtesy the Wouxun.us guys. They graciously donated a radio because they wanted to see it supported in chirp. If you're a customer of theirs (heck, even if you're not), be sure to drop them a line and thank them for helping out. If you're thinking of buying a UV-5R, definitely buy it from them and be sure to communicate that you're a chirp user. I'm sure that if they know chirp support is helping them sell radios that they will continue to support the cause.
I know that the UV-3R is tremendously popular with chirp users, and the UV-5R has been (hands down) the most requested radio to date -- even though it has only been available for a few weeks!

I just sent him a thank you. The UV-5R is an amazing little radio. I went for a ride across three Counties here in Western Pennsylvania and never was out of range of a repeater. 73's Ed
