On older uv-5r the default range for vhf was 136-174. Now some show 130-179! Does older models support shorter range or is it just different default settings and all support 130-179(or more?)
They changed the RF chip at least once. That could be one reason. It could be the default settings changed in different firmware versions.

Might be set acording to regulations on some markets
