[chirp_users] Issue with UV-5rv2+ programming
Trying to use chirp to program new HTs. Reads radio ok, but error message of radio won't respond to write to radio. Happens on both radios. If I use the VIP software (talk about convoluted!) it will write to the radio. I just did 1 local repeater channel thru VIP so see if it would work.
Any thoughts or ideas I can try?

My radio transmits for a minute or so when I plug it in and chirp won't write. If I wait for it to end transmitting it writes ok. Chased that problem for an hour yesterday. Make sure your uv5r is not transmitting

Not sure what happened in your particular case, but the instructions do say to be sure and be on an unused channel before proceeding. Not that you were not, but it’s worth mentioning.

That worked. Thanx!!!! Spent 3 hours last night trying different things, and that solved the problem. Nice having different color screens to let you know things.

Should clarify -- waiting about 2 minutes solved the problem. It was in a transmit state when it came on.

Should clarify -- waiting about 2 minutes solved the problem. It was in a transmit state when it came on.
That's your radio timing out. Really not a good way to solve the problem -- it's hard on your radio, and unless you're using a dummy load, you're not identifying that transmission. Plug the radio into the cable while off and then turn the radio on.
