[chirp_users] chirpw.exe.log Permission Denied
It's been over a year since I used Chirp on my Windows 10 laptop, at which time it worked fine.
I installed new daily builds about a week ago and today.
Chirp fails to load presenting the following error:
The logfile'C:\Program Files(x86)\Chirp\chirpw.exe.log' could not be opened:
[Errno 13]Permission denied:'C:\ Program Files(x86)\Chirp\chirpw.exe.log file:///\\Chirp\chirpw.exe.log '
After the attempt a week ago, I uninstalled Chirp and reinstalled from the Daily Build.
There is no chirpw.exe.log on the computer.
Today's Daily Build did not improve the situation.
I installed the Daily Build on my Windows 7 laptop and Chirp functions fine.
That computer does not have the chirpw.exe.log anywhere on it.
I've got some radios I'd like to update.
Thanks,

I actually did try a week ago but don’t recall the results other than it didn’t succeed.
The only account I use is configured as administrator, but I tried it again just now.
The resulting error:
ERRORS OCCURRED
See the logfile ‘C:\Program Files(x86))\Chirp\chirpw.exe.log’ For Details
However, it DID create the missing log file. Contents are:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "chirpw", line 20, in <module>
File "chirp\logger.pyo", line 151, in <module>
File "chirp\logger.pyo", line 93, in __init__
IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'C:\Users\Mike Earls\AppData\Roaming\CHIRP\debug.log'
Hope this helps.

I would recommend 2 things.
1. Delete or rename the chirp.config file. Windows 10 is known for corrupting it. CHIRP will then create a new one.
2. Right-click the CHIRP shortcut and choose "Run as administrator".

Deleted the config file (dated 8/1/2016) and tried running as admin.
Got the Errors Occurred message.
Thank you

It is a permissions problem on your computer. Are you using a 3rd party virus scanner program? If yes, try launching CHIRP with it disabled.
Jim
William had written to me directly, so this reply was under a different subject.

I had found mention linking Errno 13 to anti-virus.
I'm running the standard Avira and Malwarebytes Premium.
I disabled Avira and individually disabled Web Protection, Exploit
Protection, Malware Protection, and Ransomware Protection in Malwarebytes.
Still the error.
I actually couldn't locate the firewall settings to check that (Win 10
version 1709).
I did finally locate the Firewall settings but they were too complication for me to understand.
