[chirp_users] New Radio / Use
Just got a new BTECH 5x3. It is my understanding that there is no other software available except CHIRP.
Is there anyway to adjust radio menu items with CHIRP?
Listing a few as examples: TX-RX display color, channel display mode (CH#,Freq,Name),
I don't see any way to set DTMF alerts, which is the main reason I bought this radio.

Yes. That's what CHIRP does. It sets everything that it is known that can be programed.

Settings -> Basic Settings -> Standby LED Color: Off/Blue/Orange/Purple Settings -> Basic Settings -> RX LED Color: Off/Blue/Orange/Purple Settings -> Basic Settings -> TX LED Color: Off/Blue/Orange/Purple Settings -> Basic Settings -> Display Mode (A): Channel/Name/Frequency Settings -> Basic Settings -> Display Mode (D): Channel/Name/Frequency

DTMF alerts? It can read and display DTMF signals that are received. It supports Stun, Kill, Revive, etc. There are not alerts that I know of.

I stand corrected. If you set off the alarm on a UV-5R or similar radio and it transmits the Alarm Code over the air (mine won't because I intentionally set my to Site so it won't), and the UV-5X3 has its alarm code set to the same value (the default is "119"), then the strobe and siren will be set off in the UV-5X3.

Yes you can set all those things in the settings tab. I have a UV50X2 and CHIRP is capable of all those settings mentioned plus remote stun/kill and all the rest.

What do you mean by dtmf alerts? There is no dtmf paging function on this radio.
