[chirp_users] Baofeng CHIRP Build
Thanks for the information Jim. I am using build 0.4.1 to program the Baofeng radios. If I am not mistaken, that is the latest build I have been able to find. What build should I be using?

I'm trying to import a csv for a Baofeng BF-F8+ but found the only way to read the radio was to select UV5R. ANyways, see the attached error message when importing the csv... the CSV was first exported and then I pasted the content from my other radio (UV82) csv file to it.
Any ideas?
Thanks! Nick

UV-5R is correc for the BF-F8+

I don't see any attached "error message". My guess is that you must by messing up the CSV format when you are appending the UV-82 data to it.
You are making this way harder than it needs to be. There are no CSV files required.
Method 1 1 Download from your UV-82 to CHIRP (this creates a tab for the UV-82) 2 Download from your BF-F8+ to CHIRP (this creads a 2nd tab for your BF-F8+) 3 Now copy and paste the channels from the UV-82 tab to the BF-F8+ tab
Method 2 1 Download from your BF-F8+ to CHIRP 2a Click File->Import 2b Now change the button that says "CHIRP Files (*.chirp)" to "CHIRP Radio Images (*.img)" 2c Find and import the "image" file for your UV-82 2d Choose which channels that you want to import from the UV-82 and where you want them imported to 2d Click the [OK] button
Any ideas?
Thanks! Nick

ive found that if you download from your radio first, save that as your primary .img file, you can open your .csv files in other tabs, then copy n paste the data from the csv to the img. you can only upload img files to the radio On May 10, 2015 6:31 PM, "Nick Nudell" medicnick@gmail.com wrote:

This reinforces my comments on the documentation from the other thread. Getting the right USB drivers is enough to scare normal people away.
Anyways, I didn't know you could copy/paste like that although I had tried it and it did not work. There were also problems when rows already had been set but I don't recall the details of the problem now. I know when there are two tabs or more open, you cannot easily tell which one is which or not so you can easily end up having to redownload just to make sure!
The process I'm using to program the radios is: 1. Download from radio 2. Export csv locally 3. Edit csv 4. Import from csv 5. Double check to make sure it copied the changes into CHIRP because sometimes it doesn't 6. Upload to radio 7. Download from radio to make sure it copied the changes into radio because sometimes it doesn't
Does that sound like the best way to do this?
Thanks! Nick KK6TYY

what i did was 1) download from radio 2) saved .img file as "default.img" so i could reset my radio if i bugered something up 3) opened "default.img" 4) opened the .csv file i wanted 5) clicking on the top channel number, the pressing shift+left clicking the last channel in the bunch 6)right clicked over highlighted channels, selected "copy" 7) selected my "default.img" tab 8) left clicked to highlight the channel i wanted to start my bunch at 8) right clicked and selected "paste" which then took a few sec, but pasted all of it over 9) rinsed and repeated from my .csv files 10) saved my edited default.img file by going to "file" then "save as", stored it as " funkychicken1.img"(name is at your discretion) 11) uploaded funkychicken to my radio, 12) powered my radio off and unplugged my data cable 13) powered my radio on and talked on my local repeaters 14) powered off, reconnected data cable then powered back on 15) downloaded img from my radio to ensure data integrity
all this said, im running chirp on a win7, 64bit machine, running chirp in compatibility mode for windows xp servicepack 3, using the ftdi cable from baofeng on my bf uv-5r with baofeng's software and drivers from their site as well as chirp from chirp's site but the newest build you get from the farrrrr right hand link on the chirp download page On May 11, 2015 4:42 PM, "Nick Nudell" medicnick@gmail.com wrote:

It obviously doesn't hurt to do it, but there is absolutely no need to run CHIRP under the Windows OS using any kind of compatibility mode.
