[chirp_users] cannot start chirp properly
i installed both the reg and the daily version on both xp and 8 windows platform. i changed the cable driver to the old 3.2.0.0 version (programming works fine with the vip software) but all i got was a widow shown on the attatched file wheb i click ok the window disappear and nothing happens! how do i start using chirp???
Hi
That is a default condition when the program is first installed. The window is telling you that error reporting is turned on. You can turn off error reporting by clicking on help and clicking the "Report Statistics" I think. However I don't think it bothers the regular operation. To download/upload to rig click on radio for more options. When you click to upload/download you will be asked for Comm Port number. You may have to look in your device manager to find out which one is being assigned if you are using an USB to Serial adapter, if you have one serial port it would be best to confirm which one you think it is and how it is shown. On my Vista system it is shown as COMM3 and that is how it needs to be put in the port of Chirp, on my XP system if auto fills that information, If I remember right.
Hope this helps some.

When you say "nothing happens" in your original post, do you mean CHIRP closes after you click the OK button or does CHIRP remain as a blank window with a menu bar? If it is the latter, then it is normal.

chirp does not show anything on my screen beside that window that closes when I click ok..
I never saw the menu bar so if chirp closes it does it behind the screen!

Does your user account on your computer have special characters that do not appear in the English language? If so, you may have to rename your account.

From what you describe, CHIRP seems to be working. Start by looking at the
Beginners Guide available in the Wiki section.

And the FAQ section of the CHIRP page on the Miklor.com website.
